North Macedonia has announced a return to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, in Bulgaria. During a public session of the Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) Program Council, attended by representatives of the Macedonian guilds, media organisations, and other relevant institutions, the MRT director Zoran Ristoski mentioned that he had talks with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and that North Macedonia would send a representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, held in Bulgaria. In the same meeting, Ristoski also revealed that MRT has received support from the EBU and will expect a more favourable package for their Eurovision selection. Additionally, he also mentioned that "the era of non-transparent Eurovision selections was over", likely meaning that Macedonia will internally select their Eurovision artist for 2027.
Before withdrawing from Eurovision, North Macedonia used the National Final Za Evrosong to select their entry. Before that, they used the National Final Skopje Fest, meaning that by internally selecting their artist, North Macedonia is doing something out of the ordinary for them. Their last competing entry was in 2022, when Andrea Koevska, a Macedonian singer born in the capital city of Skopje, represented the country in Turin, Italy. Her song, "Circles", is a metaphor and a symbol of repetitive cycles and that feeling of having the same arguments over and over and going nowhere. Attached is the live performance of her song.
Andrea found herself in a bit of controversy while she represented North Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest, as during the opening ceremony, Andrea was seen throwing the flag of North Macedonia onto the floor during a photoshoot with the press, to which the Macedonian delegation considered pulling her out of the contest due to it. However, she stayed and competed in the second semi-final, where she finished 11th, just missing out on qualifying.

This return will mark North Macedonia's 22nd time competing in the contest, and, provided they qualify for it, their 10th time in the Grand Final. Their best result was in 2019 when the contest was held in Tel Aviv, Israel, where Tamara Todevska represented them with her song "Proud", in which she won the jury vote, and came 7th overall with 305 points.
