West Midlands Metro Tram services were affected by a major power failure this week, leading to the suspension of all services across their network for a number of hours. Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, has announced the introduction of a weekend hopper bus fare for summer weekends, in an attempt to get Londoners and tourists onboard London's bus network.

The initiative will see all fares on Saturdays and Sundays between 25th July and 31st August for London's Buses capped at £1.75, the cost of a single bus journey, per day, giving unlimited free travel after the first tap on if the same card/device is used throughout. The cap also applies to London's Tram network in South London, but does not apply to Tube, DLR, Overground, Elizabeth Line or National Rail caps, which retain their respective daily/weekly/monthly zonal caps.

Jersey is set to welcome an additional three routes from British airline Jet2 to the Crown Dependency in the Channel Islands for Summer 2027. Jet2 have announced that it'll be launching summer seasonal flights to Jersey from Bristol and Birmingham, alongside the existing summer flights it offers from East Midlands, Leeds/Bradford and Newcastle, as well as boosting capacity on its existing route from Manchester.

The boost in capacity will pit the airline against Loganair, who offer services from both Bristol and Birmingham to Jersey already, and provide 120,000 extra seats.  Lee Madden, president of the Jersey Chamber of Commerce, said the expansion is a "strong vote of confidence in Jersey," saying: "Jet2's significant expansion of activity for its summer 2027 programme is a strong vote of confidence in Jersey as a destination and its appeal within the UK leisure market.
