Junior Varsity
Backstory
Junior Varsity is a group I only recently started listening to earlier this year, and honestly, they keep growing on me more and more! The group initially formed in 2019, forming as a duo composed of singer Greg Varteresian and the guy behind their instrumentals, Zach Michel. The original duo met at New York University, and their friendship definitely flourished from there. Both members have released music on their own accord before. Still, after meeting each other, they definitely knew there were plenty of possibilities when it came to making music together. Once this was settled, they realised New York was not the move for their potential career, so there was only one decision: move to Los Angeles.
Warner Music Records initially signed them, but sadly this did not end up going anywhere. But luckily enough, after Greg had the amazing idea of possibly introducing a female vocalist to the group, they coincidentally met Brooke Danaher and well, the rest is history! Sadly, Brooke has stepped away from the group recently, so Lola Blue has been filling in for vocals.

Well, these 5 tracks are definitely my favourite from the group. Honestly, they are some of my favourite tracks this year alone-definitely an alternative pop style, as opposed to the indie style I covered last week. From tracks like 'Radio' and 'Home', you can definitely tell how much the group has wanted to feature both genders in the vocals. Covering themes of love, departure and more over these tracks. It's clear the group definitely has something to say when creating tracks, which we will be covering more throughout this article!

Radio, if it isn't one of my favourite tracks from anyone who I have listened to this year, then I'm not sure what is. The track is amazingly produced by Junior Varsity, Hugo Chan & Brandon Shoop. Originally released in April earlier this year. It's definitely on the newer side of tracks I have covered within Hall of Fame so far. 'Radio' definitely covers themes of falling in love with someone and no longer talking to them, while still longing for what you once had before. Especially in the lyrics' Well, we should keep talking' and 'I wish that you'd stay'. These themes are definitely conveyed throughout the track, as well as how emotional the instrumental feels until the track finishes.
Out of all the tracks I have heard so far from Junior Varsity, this is one I will forever recommend!

The Ready EP from Junior Varsity is one of their best projects. Released on the 1st of May, it features the track 'Radio', which, as I have previously mentioned, is my favourite from the group, but that's not all; tracks like 'Lost and Found' and 'Home' definitely stand out to me as well.
The project as a whole has an overwhelming calming feel. It is something you would get more enjoyment out of on a rainy day, especially on a walk if you can! Constant themes of exhaustion within friendships and relationships are covered throughout this album, which does give it that overwhelming gloomy feeling. Overall, the project only has under 2 million streams on Spotify, but don't let this deter you from giving it a shot.
