Apple Shifts Release Schedule for Some iPhone Models
17 hours ago FMG

For consumers in the market for the iPhone 18 line of devices from Apple, some will have to wait longer than others to get their hands on the device. Back in November 2025, Apple made a major announcement regarding the release schedule for their next gen iPhone model. After witnessing a very strong year of sales for both the iPhone 17 and the older iPhone 16 lines, Apple has decided to switch to a two release model for the upcoming flagship phone line.

Normally, all iPhone models would release on the same day. This gave consumers more options for their new device. Starting with the iPhone 18 line, however, the higher end Pro and Pro Max models will launch in the traditional September window. The more budget friendly iPhone 18 and 18 plus will instead be shifted to a spring 2027 release. This means, some consumers will have to wait longer if they want a base model iPhone 18 rather than the more expensive models.

Under this new model, Apple is aiming to 'centralize' its release schedule, leading to more product launches per year from the company. Despite this, Apple has indicated this could be the new release model going forward. Given that Apple usually releases other devices periodically throughout the year, this could be a move to line up multiple device launches on similar days or weeks, such as the rumoured iPhone Fold. It remains to be seen how this new 'staggered' release schedule fares for Apple this year, although some consumers might not be welcomed by the change.
