There isn't always a movie that break box office records, but when there is, it is usually a good movie. Project Hail Mary is one of those movies. The movie, based on the novel by Andy Weir is currently on track to be one of the most successful this year.

The film is based on a middle school teacher who finds himself on a spacecraft that has been sent to the far reaches of the universe to look for a cure for a virus that is making the Sun become more dim and as a result is threatening all life on Earth.

At the time of writing this, the film has already grossed $140 million at the box office in its first weekend, giving the film the best opening weekend this year alone.  The film stands much higher than 'Hoppers', 'Wuthering Heights', and 'Scream 7'. It has also landed atop Amazon's best opening weekend ever, topping "Creed III."

When Amazon acquired MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) in 2022, they pledged to release more films in theaters before they were released on Prime. This is a clear indication of that promise from Amazon.

Directors of the film, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller worked on both 'The Lego Movie' and '21 Jump Street'. The two have also worked on the 'Spider-Verse' movies starring Shameik Moore as Miles Morales.

'Scream 7' held this year's record for strongest box office weekend until Project Hail Mary came along. Scream 7 did not accomplish the feat that Project Hail Mary has accomplished.

'Scream 7' has grossed nearly $193.8 million in a little over a month since being released. Project Hail Mary  is still projected to gross more than Scream 7.

So have you watched the movie yet? What do you think of it?
