The man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was described as having learning difficulties or being autistic. He was not accompanied by family or carers while at the park.
"It was not believed that the man who died at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park was being accompanied by anybody," said a South Yorkshire Police spokesman on Monday. The incident exploded on social media, as teenagers were using the football team Hull City A.F.C. chant "You've been mauled by the tigers," which is a sound of a man saying "mauled by the tigers" theatrically, to ridicule the incident.
The videos have been called "disgusting," "disrespectful," and "cruel". The football team has not yet commented.

A clip of the man inside of the enclosure has been shared online and is going viral. The man can be seen shouting and pointing at the tiger, which may have been out of fear or frustration. The Health and Safety Executive has said they will not be investigating the incident, but Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council are expected to probe the tragic death.
The police have also added that they will not be releasing any details of the victim as requested by the family members of the victim. The man's details have been passed on to the local Doncaster coroners. It is unclear if the zoo will be reopened yet.
