ALTON TOWERS' REVEAl NEW 2019 RIDE
Alton Towers have revealed their new ride for 2019. The ride is going to be a dungeons themed ride.
Alton Towers updated their website today, revealing that they will be developing a new ride, themed to The Dungeons and it will be set to open in the 2019 season.
The ride is rumored to be in the old site for the 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory' ride, which was at the park between April 2006 before closing at the end of the 2015 season - and never reopened. People had speculated that it would return, others doubted the return of the ride.
The Charlie and The Chocolate Factory ride was a boat-themed attraction manufactured by MACK rides. The ride originally was called "Around the World in 80 Days" before being re-themed to "Toyland Tours".
Throughout the ride, riders go through the story of Charlie in the chocolate factory on a boat. Later, riders enter a model elevator, which has screens around the room, showing Charlie and Willy Wonka going through the factory in the glass elevator. The elevator aspect of the ride has CGI effects such as vibrations to give the riders a feeling they are actually in the glass elevator.
There are several dungeon attractions across the UK. Some popular sites include; Blackpool, York, and Edinburgh. There has not been any further confirmation whether the ride will stay as a boat ride, a walk through or even a little 'haunted house' themed attraction.
This is the first investment following Alton Towers' successful Wickerman ride, which opened in the 2018 season.
