After the success of last week's edition, "10 questions to..." is back with a brand new edition for one week only, Disco, will be taking a seat and answering my questions so we can all get to know him better!
Last week, Doron nominated Disco, and I couldn't wait to how they would respond to the questions...
So without further ado... it's time for 10 QUESTIONS TO... Disco!
Kie: Who are you and what do you do at UpBeat?
Disco: Hello, I’m Joshua better known to the UpBeat listeners as Disco. I am a radio presenter & a radio mentor at Upbeat so basically I babysit my team of presenters most of the time. So a big shout out to Team Sharp - a credit to every one of them for doing such amazing work since I have been a Radio Mentor!
Kie: What do you most enjoy about being a Radio Presenter at UpBeat?
Disco: Wow, Kie asked the difficult questions. As I have a qualification in Multimedia, I love the side of the role where you’re being creative. So during my team tips I try to be as creative as possible and even make nice graphics to go on Discord. Like it’s not fun for anyone if it’s just text as it most likely just won’t be looked at. Other than that I just love everything about the role, it’s been a few years since I have been in a senior role within radio so it’s nice to be back writing reviews and even doing a bit of the training too.
Kie: How did you discover UpBeat and what made you want to apply initially?
Disco: I am unsure how I discovered UpBeat. It would most likely be through someone on Discord who I was at previous sites at. I’ve been involved with internet radio for 10+ years so it got a bit stale over the past year or so. So I took my time out from radio a bit and then I found UpBeat and honestly just fell in love with the community and also the site layout. I applied mainly because I missed radio presenting and especially during the latter part of the pandemic, I just wanted something to do again I guess. As I said before I just love being creative and even planning my shows.
Kie: What animal would you like to be reincarnated as?
Disco: I would personally like to be reincarnated as a golden eagle. I would love to fly without the need to use an airplane to get to different places all around the world. As I love a good holiday to be honest as we all probably do.
Kie: Which of the Seven Wonders of the World do you want to visit the most?
Disco: The Seven Wonders of the World are some amazing places to visit. I would perhaps most likely want to visit the Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro. In 2016, when the Olympic Games were in Brazil the statue was one of the key places on the tv coverage. So, after watching the Olympics back then I promised myself to one day visit Brazil.
Kie: What's your favourite joke?
Disco: Oooo jokes… Here we go, here's a good one! Why are green beans the most zen of all vegetables? Because they’ve found their inner peas. Did anyone find that funny? I certainly did to be honest.
Kie: What era would you choose to live in if you could?
Disco: The 80s is perhaps an era which I would have loved to live in as it had some of the best films, and music out of any era. For example, for movies you had Back to the Future, Star Wars and Indiana Jones all releasing very close to each other. All three amazing trilogies of films and with some amazing characters.
Kie: If you could be famous for something, what would it be?
Disco: When I was younger, I was a huge fan of Blue Peter and I even got a Blue Peter badge for raising money for charity. I still watch from time to time when they do their big challenges. I always wanted to present Blue Peter and get my hands on that gold Blue Peter badge. Well there’s still time I guess!
Kie: What really gets on your nerves?
Disco: Perhaps the biggest thing which gets on my nerves most of the time is people who make me repeat myself. Especially happens more now with people wearing masks all the time so you will perhaps not always hear someone all the time.
Kie: What's your favourite quote from a movie or book?
Disco: “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day”. This is a quote from one of my favourite Disney attractions, Carousel of Progress. Steeped in both nostalgia and (in the past) futurism, the attraction's premise is an exploration of the joys of living through the advent of electricity and other technological advances during the 20th century via a "typical" American family. It is also a perfect quote as there is always a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day.
Kie: I know the article is called 10 questions to... but I have one more question for you! Who would you like to nominate for next week's article?
Disco: Now who can I nominate for the next set of 10 Questions. I’m going to choose my good friend and fellow presenter Stevey. He will be a good laugh and maybe someone who you should all get to know as he is an amazing presenter!
