France draws with Ukraine thanks to Martial's goal
In Ukraine, France's national team managed to draw with Ukraine after Anthony Martial, a striker for Manchester United and Les Blues, scored a goal to draw the game 1-1 in the 50th minute till the end, thus saving the country despite having a winless streak in Group D of the World Cup Qualifiers.
In the match, France lost the lead to Ukraine as Mykola Shaparenko, a midfielder of Ukraine's national team, scored in the 44th minute, but France caught up when Martial scored the crucial goal in the 50th minute. Even though France has been drawing games lately, they still lead in the table of Group D after playing five matches, and they will face off Finland in the next match, which defeated Kazakhstan 1-0.

For Ukraine, they are in third place which places them behind Finland, although they have 5 points each. Bosnia and Kazakhstan are at 4th and 5th place respectively, as they have 2 points. Didier Deschamps, France's coach, told reporters, “It was much better in the second half and we have regrets in the first as we conceded the goal just after missing a chance.”
He continued, “Playing all these matches in a row is tricky and very demanding but I’m not looking for excuses.” Martial, who scored his second international goal for France, also spoke to reporters and said that it was a hard game for the whole team of France but at the very least, they managed to make it level in an important game.

In the starting line-up, Kingsey Coman stood in for Kylian Mbappe who had to be ruled out of the game due to pain on his calf, and Anthony Martial played up front alongside Coman and with the support Kurt Zouma in defence, as Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane was placed on the bench for the match. Even though France had good chances to score in the first half, but they couldn't seem to penetrate through Ukraine's defence.
Antoine Griezmann tried to score in the 27th minute but Ukraine got the ball back and then also tried to score in the 35th minute but France's goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, managed to save it with ease. Martial also had chances to open the scoring but Ukraine held back and got the ball again, this time counter-attacking and scored as Shaparenko did a curled shot and scored.
But as the second half returns, Martial saved France by scoring a crucial goal in the 50th minute which allowed them to hold firm throughout the whole match.
