Edible coffee cups?
Air New Zealand, New Zealand's flag airline, has decided to trial using edible coffee cups on flights to try and limit the amount of waste on flights.
The cups are made by a New Zealand based company called 'Twiice', and are supposedly made of vanilla flavored biscotti.
The airline serves around 8 million cups of coffee a year on its flights, and all the plastic waste is sent to landfills!
However, they have only yet to change the cups, there is a lot more causing more waste on flights, such as the food containers. If you've ever been on a long-haul flight, you'll know they heat up the food in plastic containers!
The company claims they have so far been a "huge success" and hopes to see the cups used more widely throughout New Zealand
The UK drinks around 2 billion cups of coffee each year, and unfortunately, only 0.25% of them are recycled.
