Ticket fare to rise by 2.7% in 2020

As passengers prepare for the December strikes that continue till the end of the year, train operators have revealed that ticket fares will rise above the consumer price in 2020. Calculated by The Independent, passengers are expected to pay over a £1 per mile. 


Passengers are going to have the pay 2.7% more of their original train fare by the 2nd of February, between London & Manchester the one-way fare will rise by £5 to £180. Services will be run by Avanti West Coast (First Operated) which has taken over Virgin Trains on the West Coast Mainline. 

Avanti's anytime fared from Watford Junction to Rugby is to increase to £65.20, which is over a £1 a mile! 

South Western Railway passengers will have to pay £90 more for a season ticket from Woking to London Waterloo.
Cardiff Central to London will cost £2.20 more than the usual price.
