NETFLIX SIGNS NEW LEASE TO KEEP PARIS THEATRE OPEN, AS THEY BECOME OPERATORS OF THE PLACE!
Netflix! A streaming service most of us use to watch our favourite movies, series' and TV Shows have recently opened themselves up to the theatre business and have signed a newly extended lease as operators for 'The Paris Theatre', located in New York City.
Netflix have done this as a way to release “Marriage Story", a film by Noah Baumbach’ on theatre screens. Netflix are ready to go above and beyond the small release and keep the theatre open. They announced that after the run of Marriage Story, Netflix has signed a lease that will keep the Paris Theatre, NYC open!
The purpose of this location is to give Netflix the opportunity to host more screenings, premieres etc!
Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos had this to say: “After 71 years, the Paris Theatre has an enduring legacy and remains the destination for a one-of-a kind movie-going experience, we are incredibly proud to preserve this historic New York institution so it can continue to be a cinematic home for film lovers.”
1948 is when The Paris Theatre was opened, and it began its journey as a small theatre, located in New York City, that streamed French films. Over the decades, the Paris became one of the most popular locations for films to be shown in the city. The Paris Theatre to this day is the only theatre with 1 screen in New York City. Unfortunately, the theatre had closed in August of 2019.
