UBER LOSES LICENCE TO OPERATE IN LONDON

Transport for London (TfL) has seen a rise in failures from Uber and has concluded that Uber is not fit to operate at the current moment. A spokesman for the company said that "several breaches that placed passengers and their safety at risk"  impacted most on the decision to renew their license to operate in London.

Inspectors who were looking into the case found that 14,000+ Uber journeys were taken by drivers who were using another Uber account, and at least 43 drivers were found to upload pictures to another Uber account, which means that the journeys completed by them were uninsured.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London commented saying:
"I support the decision by TfL's licensing officials today in relation to Uber and completely understand why the decision was taken. Keeping Londoners safe is my absolute number-one priority, and TfL have identified a pattern of failure by Uber that has directly put passengers' safety at risk."

There was one instance where TfL found six drivers had been suspended or dismissed from the platform but were still driving using the app on a brand new account. Uber has 21 days to send an appeal.
Uber has 24% of sales coming from London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Sao Paulo.
