On Friday the 25th October 2019, Southampton played Leicester City in a Premier League match. The match opened with Ben Chilwell scoring for Leicester in the 10th minute of the game. In the build up to the goal, Ryan Bertrand, a Southampton defender, commit a poor challenge. After the goal, VAR had a look and the challenge Ryan Bertrand was dismissed.

In the 17th minute, a low ball onto the edge of the box gets to Youri Tielemans who manages to drives a low, powerful shot into the bottom corner of Angus Gunn’s net to double the Foxes’ lead.

Only 2 minutes later, Ayoze Pérez bursts into the box with the ball. He played a little pass to Youri Tielemans before getting it back and then firing the ball under the keeper and into the net, giving him his first goal in a Leicester shirt.

Just 5 minutes before the first half came to an end, Ben Chilwell received the ball from Wilfred Ndidi a few yards away from the edge of the box. He floats in a delightful ball which is found by Ayoze Pérez who converted it into his second goal in the game.

On the stroke of half time, Ben Chilwell plays in a cross which is deflected into the path of the Leicester skipper Jamie Vardy, who calmly fired the ball into the net. The half time score, Southampton 0-5 Leicester City.

In the 57th minute, a high ball into the box from Harvey Barnes came into the run of an onside Ayoze Pérez, who on his hat-trick, calmly struck the ball into the net for his first three goals in a Leicester City shirt. Southampton 0-5 Leicester City. 


Only one minute later, a ball down the flank to Ben Chilwell who ran into the box and delivered a beautiful ball onto the head of Jamie Vardy. Grabbing himself his second goal, the captain placed the ball into the net calmly.

85 minutes in, James Maddison had a free kick just outside the box for Leicester. A beautiful shot into the top left corner gave Leicester an 8-0 lead over 10-man Southampton; equaling the away top-flight record.

As if it couldn’t get any worse for the Saints, a bursting run from Jamie Vardy in the last minute of stoppage time meant that he was brought down, giving a penalty to Leicester. With the chance for the record and the second hat-trick in the game, Jamie Vardy stepped up to take the penalty. He blasted the last kick of the game into the right hand side of the goal. The keeper went the right way, but the shot was too powerful.
