How Social Media has evolved superfans.

Oh, Instagram. Look what you've done! Now there are thousands of fan pages flooding my search page!

"Super Fans"-we've all heard of them-maybe you're one yourself? But for those of you that don't know what one is, let me explain. A "Super Fan" is someone who dedicates a lot of their time, love, and attention, normally to an actor, musician, writer, athlete, or just about anything/one with a fanbase.

This has been a thing for as long as artistry has been around, but something that has really changed the game of "Super Fans", is

social media. This has created an entire new platform for them to declare their love for whatever they want.

Here's an example of just how dedicated some of these people can be: Aaliyah Jewel, 17, from Queens, New York. She's one of many people among the fandom called Directioners, fans of a band named One Direction.

At her highest point of devotion for this band, she dedicates up to 12 hours a day

listening to just their music. Now thanks to multiple platforms called Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, she spends just as long following their moves and lives as it happens.

Now here is where social media gets involved with it. These "Super Fans" are making profiles dedicated to their idols and creating their own following for them, all with the same desire and fantasy of their idol. People are making youtube videos, picture portfolios/edits, even going as far as buying & selling clothing their idol may have worn.

Social Media, once again has taken over something from our everyday lives and exploded it three times larger than what it once used to be. What these platforms have given "Super Fans" is incredible, for it allows them to express and connect their views, opinions and love for these people in an environment where they all feel the same: a community of "Super Fans"...

Who are YOU a "Super Fan" of? Sound off in the comments, and don't forget to tune into UpBeatRadio.net!

Yeah, there's that group of people who are creating troll accounts. There's nothing Instagram can really do about it though.
