A Met Office official was sent to check the equipment before verifying the new record on Monday. Staff working at the garden on Thursday tweeted: "No wonder we all felt as if we'd melted." Daily temperatures have been measured by the weather station at the site in the south of the city since 1904. Always be safe!

With these killer temperatures on the rise, here is some help on how you should stay safe in Hot weather: 1. Stay in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible. 2. Drink plenty of fluids even if you don't feel thirsty. 3. Schedule outdoor activities carefully. 4. Take cool showers or baths to cool down. 5. Wear sunblock even when it's cloudy.
