Manchester united in 4th place after wiN
The first 8 minutes saw plenty of action on the attacking side for United with multiple chances in front of goal to take the lead early on, with defenders and the goalie Gunn making impressive stops to keep the game level 0-0. It wasn't until the 26th minute did we see a goal in this game, but it was the opposition, Southampton, who gained the lead first. Valery (full-back), who hasn't scored in his senior campaign thus far, shot the ball with sheer power from 25 yards out to just barely put it by De Gea, who managed to get a tip on the ball, but could do nothing more than watch the ball go into the back of the net.
8 minutes into the 2nd half, Pereria responded with a stunner of his own to make the game level at 1-1 in the 53rd minute with an assist from Dalot, coming on in a minute earlier to replace Alexis Sanchez. 6 minutes later, Lukaku curls the ball low on an assist from Pereria to take the lead at Old Trafford. Southampton wouldn't give up on the game just yet, however. In the 75th hit a crazy free kick goal where he curved the ball just enough to place it in the top left corner past De Gea.
In the 88th minute of the game, Lukaku bullied past his opposition to score what would be the final goal of the match and to give United the lead once again. Romelu has now scored 9 goals in his last 12 appearances versus Southampton and is back in form for United who looks to hold onto their top 4 spots to reach the Champions League for another season. Rashford did earn a penalty in the 94th minute, however, Gunn saved Pogba's attempt to keep the game 3-2.
Manchester United gets back in action on Wednesday in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain at 8 PM GMT, who travel to France to hope to come back on a 2-0 deficit on aggregate.
